MediSamajh — Privacy Policy
1. Information we collect
a) If you sign in with Google (optional)
- Your name, email address and profile photo from your Google account — used only to create your account and show your name in the app.
b) Health information you choose to add
- Photos you scan (medicine packs, prescriptions, lab reports) and documents you add to Reports.
- The explanations the app creates for those scans, and the reports and folders you save.
- Profile and family details you enter, such as age, blood group, height and family member profiles.
c) Information created automatically
- A random app ID for your phone. It is not linked to your name, phone number or the phone's real identifiers. Our server uses it only to stop misuse (for example, too many scans in one minute).
- A count of today's scans, kept on your phone, for the free daily scan limit.
- Basic technical logs on our server (time of a request and whether it succeeded or failed), kept for a short time for security and fixing problems.
- App settings such as your chosen language.
2. How your information is used
- To explain your scans: when you scan, the photo is first made smaller on your phone, then sent securely (HTTPS) through our server to Anthropic's Claude AI, which creates the explanation. We do not store your photos on our server.
- Body Map: when you ask about a body part, the name of that body part and your chosen language are sent the same way to create the explanation.
- To back up your data (only if you sign in): text information — report explanations, profile and family details — is backed up to your own private space in Google Firebase, so you can restore it on a new phone. Photos are never uploaded to the backup.
- To keep the service working and safe: the random app ID and technical logs help us prevent misuse and keep costs under control so the app can stay free.
Most of your data is stored only on your phone. If you do not sign in, the only things that leave your phone are what you send for an explanation (scan photos and Body Map questions), together with the random app ID.
3. What we never do
- We never sell your personal or health information.
- We do not show ads or use advertising trackers.
- We do not collect your location.
- We do not upload your scanned photos to any cloud backup.
- We do not give medical diagnoses or suggest medicines.
4. Services we use
| Service | What it does for MediSamajh |
|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude AI) | Reads scan photos and writes the explanation. Anthropic privacy policy |
| Cloudflare | Runs our secure server that passes scans to the AI and applies usage limits. Cloudflare privacy policy |
| Google Firebase & Google Sign-In | Optional sign-in and private backup of your text data. Google privacy policy |
| Google Play | App delivery, and an optional in-app prompt to rate the app. |
These companies process data only to provide these services to us.
5. Sharing that you choose
- Share on WhatsApp: if you tap Share, the explanation is passed to WhatsApp (or another app you pick) and sent to the people you choose. That is then handled under WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
- Translation feedback: if you tap "Some words wrong", your email app opens with the explanation so you can send it to us to improve the language. Nothing is sent unless you press send.
6. Your choices and rights
- Use the app without signing in.
- Allow or deny the camera and photo permissions at any time in your phone settings.
- Delete any saved report inside the app.
- Delete your account: open Profile → Delete my account. This permanently deletes your account and your cloud backup, and clears the app data on that phone. You can also email us — see our Delete account page.
- Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, and raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer (below).
7. How long we keep data
- On your phone: until you delete it, delete your account, or uninstall the app.
- Cloud backup (signed-in users): until you delete your account.
- Scan photos: not kept on our server after the explanation is created.
- Technical server logs: a few days.
8. Security
All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The key for our AI service is kept only on our server, never inside the app. Your cloud backup is stored under your own signed-in account and is not shared with other users. No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
9. Medical disclaimer
MediSamajh gives general information to help you understand medicines and reports. It is not a diagnosis, treatment or medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor or pharmacist. AI explanations can contain mistakes. Always follow your doctor's advice.
10. Children
MediSamajh is meant for adults aged 18 and above. Children should use it only with a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. For important changes, we may also ask you to review the policy again inside the app.
